NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Ferndale Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., at 834 Main Street, Ferndale, California, for the following item:
Amendments to the Ferndale Zoning Ordinance,
Section 6.05 Design Control Combining or -D Zone.
The proposed amendments will modify the review and approval procedures for a design review permit as currently specified in the Design Control Combining or -D Zone. In particular, the draft amendments propose the elimination of the Design Review Committee and to, instead, task the Planning Commission with design review approval, as the Planning Commission is better suited to consider all aspects of a project. The draft amendments are available at City Hall, and online at http://ci.ferndale.ca.us/. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public testimony, provide direction, and consider a recommendation to the Ferndale City Council to amend the Design Control Combining Zone, Section 6.05 of the Ferndale Zoning Ordinance. The public is invited to attend the meeting and provide comment.
The proposed amendments are exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to the CEQA Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3) the General Rule or Common Sense Exemption that it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment. Since no development or other physical change to the environment would be approved by amending the Design Review Procedures, it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the adoption of the proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments may have a significant effect on the environment in the City of Ferndale.
