  • CITY COUNCIL MEETING 4-15-2026

    The Ferndale City Council will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, beginning at 6:00pm at Ferndale City Hall, 834 Main Street, Ferndale. This is an in person meeting. Those wishing to comment of ask questions should plan on attending. Comments on agenda items may be submitted to the City Clerk by 12:00pm on the date of the scheduled meeting. Comments will be forwarded to the City Council prior to the meeting. Regular City Council meetings are recorded and a video of the meeting is available by request. Videos are downloaded to dropbox and a link to the video can be requested. A USB drive or Compact Disc is also available for a fee. Videos are generally available by the Monday following the meeting. The agenda and packet can be viewed and downloaded by clicking the link below. You may also contact City Hall and have the packet emailed.   • PUBLIC NOTICE-ANNUAL MILITARY EQUIPMENT REPORT ENGAGEMENT MEETING

    CITY OF FERNDALE PUBLIC NOTICE MILITARY EQUIPMENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETING AB-481 requires law enforcement agencies to submit to the City Council an annual military equipment report on the use of the equipment, any complaint(s) or concern(s) regarding the use of the equipment, results of any internal audits on the use of the equipment, the annual costs for the equipment, the quantity possessed by the agency and the intention to purchase additional equipment in the following budget year. In addition, a community engagement meeting must be held to allow for the public comments. The Chief of Police, Ron Sligh, will be hosting a community engagement meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 9:00am – 10:00am at the Ferndale Police Department, 600 Berding Street, Ferndale, CA 95536.     NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Ferndale City Council will hold a public hearing on April 15, 2025, at 6:00pm for the Second Reading and adoption, by title only, of the following: Ordinance 2026-03, entitled as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FERNDALE OF HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE 03-05 AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT LOCAL AGENCY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND ASSOCIATED ONSITE WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM STANDARDS; DELEGATING IMPLEMENTATION AND ENFORCEMENT TO THE COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH; AND MAKING RELATED FINDINGS All interested persons are invited to attend this Public Hearing.     CITY OF FERNDALE PUBLIC NOTICE Planning Commission Vacancy Notice is hereby given that the Ferndale Planning Commission has a vacancy due to upcoming term expiration. The Commission’s regular meeting is on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm.   • FERNDALE ACCESS PROJCT MEETING 3/26/2026

    Caltrans District 1 will host a public scoping meeting for the proposed Ferndale Access Project on Thursday, March 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Ferndale City Hall, 834 Main St. The meeting will give community members a chance to learn about early project concepts and provide input as environmental studies begin. The project is exploring long-term options to maintain reliable access to the City of Ferndale, including a structurally resilient bridge that meets modern design standards and helps reduce the risk of damage from future seismic events. Fernbridge, built in 1911, is a historic landmark spanning the Eel River and serves as a vital connection between Ferndale, U.S. 101, and communities across the North Coast. Caltrans staff will be available at the meeting to answer questions and discuss the environmental review process. Comments may also be submitted online, by email, or by mail through April 17.   • CITY OF FERNDALE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – CITY CLERK

    The City of Ferndale is now accepting application packets for the position of City Clerk. Application Packets can be downloaded under the Employment tab on the Ferndale City Website or click City Clerk Application Packet and be automatically taken to the packet.   • SANDBAGS & SAND AVAILABLE

    Sand and Sandbags are available toward the end of Francis Street near the Francis Street Bridge. Please note that the city will not longer be able to constantly supply shovels due to excessive removal in the past. Shovels may or may not be available at the sand pile. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – Additional rounds of heavy rain are likely again starting tonight and continuing through Friday night. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. There is an increased risk of tree branches and other debris on roadways. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.
