The City of Ferndale continues to monitor effects of COVID-19 pandemic on our City services and follow Federal and State recommendations. It has been determined that making a few adjustments to our operations can allow the City to continue to serve the public; but in a manner consistent with recommended practices. The following practices will start March 17, 2020 at 9 am and are being implemented to make every effort to protect everyone’s health:
Payments for Business Licenses, Dog Licenses, or Invoice Payments due to the City can be mailed in with a check. A receipt will be mailed along with any licenses if applicable.
If you need to make a cash transaction, you have two options:
▪ Mail Slot payments located at City Hall entrance (a receipt can be mailed or emailed by request).
▪ In person payments by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call 707-786-4224.
Appointments will be required to meet with staff regarding permitting. Please call 707-786-4224 to set up an appointment. Person to Person appointments will only be made if necessary.
The regular Council meeting scheduled for 7:00 PM, March 18, 2020 will take place with the following changes:
E-Mailed Public Comment – Public comments can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. All comments received by the City Clerk by 5:00 PM will be printed and provided to the City Council at the meeting.
Modified Agenda- The Council has requested a modified agenda that will postpone any non-essential items until the April 15, 2020 Meeting. The modified agenda can be found at our website https://ci.ferndale.ca.us/.
Social Distancing at the Meeting – We strongly encourage the public to avoid the March City Council meeting unless necessary. Those individuals who decide to attend the Council meeting in person will be asked to sit at least 6 feet way from other attendees. Anyone who feels sick are asked to stay home. To comply with the Federal and State regulations, there will only be 10 people in total allowed in the council chambers, this number will include staff. A video of the council meeting can be requested, free of charge.
At this time, we are anticipating the cancellation of the Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for April 1, 2020.
Town Hall Rentals
At this time, we are not taking any new rentals until May 1, 2020. Any one with rentals during the month of April can choose to cancel their reservations and receive a full refund. Those cancellations may also be rescheduled for a later date.
These changes will be reevaluated as information is provided by the State and Federal Guidelines.
