CALTRANS PUBLIC MEETING ON FERNBRIDGE 3/19/2024
Caltrans to host another meeting on Fernbridge and Ferndale access along Route 211 Caltrans once again invites community members to participate in an informational meeting on March 19 to discuss the future of Fernbridge and Ferndale access along Route 211. Presenters will provide updates on emergency repairs to Fernbridge following a December 2022 earthquake, as well as information about ongoing efforts to collaborate on visions for future access in and out of Ferndale. Fernbridge, a 1,320-foot-long concrete arch bridge spanning the Eel River, has been in operation since 1911. Due to its age and susceptibility to ongoing repairs and closures, Caltrans has initiated a project to review and develop alternatives for future access in and out of Ferndale. Regular updates on these topics are posted on Caltrans District 1 social media accounts and electronic road signs at either end of Fernbridge. FREE TIRE RECYCLING PROGRAM AT EUREKA TRANSFER STATION
Free Tire Reycling Program Tires piling up at the house? Good news! The Free Tire Recycling Program is available now at the Eureka Transfer Station. We can accept up to 9 car to light-truck sized tires for free, per day – 40 max per month. Tires on rims are ok too. If you need to haul over 9 tires, you’ll need a waiver from the Humboldt County LEA. THESE TIRE SOURCES ARE INELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM: Registered tire haulers Tire retailers/wholesalers Businesses that install tires as their main business Illegal dump cleanups Questions or concerns? CODE RED EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM
Code Red Alert System is now available for Ferndale. Residents can sign up to be alerted by phone, email, text, mobile app, etc. for time sensitive emergency alerts and general city messages. We encourage our residents to sign up for these services that allow our public safety officials to alert residents and businesses regarding emergency situations. To register simply follow any of these steps: 1. Use your camera to scan the QR Code below, or go to https://accountportal.onsolve.net/ferndalealerts. Then click “Register”. 2. Fill out as many of the form fields as you would like. We recommend multiple points of contact to ensure you can be reached during an emergency. 3. Make sure to keep your information up to date.
